According to a report from Romain Molina, Vinicíus Júnior (25) is demanding an annual salary in excess of €30m in order to extend his contract with Real Madrid. The Brazilian international forward’s current contract with Los Blancos is set to expire in 2027.

Negotiations with the 25-year-old’s agency, Roc Nation, have been ongoing for a while as the La Liga outfit wants to tie down the long-term future of one of their prized assets. At 25, Vinicíus is about to enter his prime, and the Spanish capital club would hate to see him fulfil those years elsewhere. However, things have changed for the Real Madrid forward over the last two seasons.

Vinicíus Júnior out of form

The Brazilian has struggled to regain the form he found under Carlo Ancelotti, which saw him win the UEFA Champions League and become the favourite to win the Ballon d’Or. As a result, the forward’s leverage has weakened, and Real Madrid are unwilling to give him a salary that would eclipse that of Kylian Mbappé. Additionally, the salary demands of the former Flamengo forward are far too high for the wage structure at the Bernabeu.
