Real Madrid put on a show of strength Tuesday night against AS Monaco, cruising to a resounding 6-1 victory in Matchday 7 of the Champions League. The night was illuminated by the outstanding performance of Vinicius Junior, who was the driving force behind this emphatic win.
The Brazilian international was directly involved in four goals: he found the back of the net in the 63rd minute and delivered three assists to teammates Kylian Mbappé and Franco Mastantuono, also forcing an own goal from Monaco defender Thilo Kehrer with a dazzling play.
Roared on by the Madrid faithful, Vinícius received a standing ovation from the Santiago Bernabéu, with the crowd chanting his name and applauding his efforts both before and after his goal.
After the match, the Real Madrid winger addressed the sacking of Xabi Alonso in comments relayed by Spanish daily AS:"That decision isn't up to me. I can't change what happened. My job is to give my all for the team, whether in attack or defense, even when I'm not at my best."
Vinicius also touched on his contract situation with Los Blancos: "I still have a year left on my contract. Everything is calm, my relationship with the management is excellent. When the time is right, we’ll find an agreement. There’s no rush."
The Brazilian concluded with a strong statement, reaffirming his commitment to the club: "I want to stay at Real Madrid as long as possible."
