Xabi Alonso’s Real Madrid put the club’s reserve outfit to the sword during a match between ranks at Los Blancos’ training ground this week.

That’s according to Marca, who have on Thursday provided an insight into the details of the clash.

The bulk of Real Madrid’s squad earlier this week departed for international duty with their respective nations across all corners of the globe.

For those not called up by their countries, though, they have continued training under the orders of Xabi Alonso at Valdebebas.

On Wednesday, a group of senior players featuring the likes of Rodrygo, Dani Ceballos and Trent Alexander-Arnold, in turn, kept their fitness levels up by way of a clash with Real Madrid Castilla.

When all was said and done, it was Alonso’s troops, as expected, who emerged on the right side of a 2-0 result.

And it was one of Los Merengues’ most high-profile stars who proved himself difference-maker on the day.

As per a report from Marca:

‘Vinícius Jr. was the scorer of both goals as the first team beat the reserve team.’
