French giant Olympique de Marseille have been thrust into the spotlight after parting ways with Roberto De Zerbi as questions about club ownership take centre stage.
Before their Ligue 1 kick-off against ninth-place Strasbourg at Orange VƩlodrome, club ultras left the ground's Virage Nord stand empty in protest.
With players booed and banners targeting billionaire club ownersĀ Frank McCourt andĀ Margarita Louis-Dreyfus, the kick-off boycott is a telling act undertaken by one of Europe's most passionately supported footballing institutions.
Per George Boxall, banners readĀ "Stands empty in protest. For a club self-destructing. All your projects go up in flames during these wasted years."
The protest was only temporary, however, with ultras back in the stand just in time to see Mason Greenwood open the scoring in the 15th minute as Marseille look to get back to winning ways.
