According to Fabrizio Romano, Pereira will sign a contract until the summer following talks on Thursday, though the club have not announced anything.

Owner Evangelos Marinakis sacked Nuno Espirito Santo three games into the season, Ange Postecoglou lasted 39 days before Sean Dyche took charge. Dyche was dismissed after Wednesday's 0-0 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers, ending a 114-day spell.

The Reds sit just above the Premier League relegation zone with 12 games remaining, three points clear of 18th-placed West Ham United, with Nuno’s Hammers in good form.

Pereira kept Wolves up last term but has been out of work since his sacking last November. He previously worked under Evangelos Marinakis at Olympiacos in 2015, winning a league and cup double, and has also managed Al Shabab, Flamengo, Corinthians, 1860 Munich, Al Ahli and Porto. He has also had two spells at Fenerbahce.

Fenerbahce are due to be his first opponents, with Forest in Istanbul next Thursday for a Europa League play-off first leg, before the return a week later. His first Premier League match would be at home to Liverpool on Sunday week, 22 February.
