Nottingham Forest head coach Vitor Pereira has vowed to reconnect the club with its identity and rediscover the “fire” he once shared with owner Evangelos Marinakis, as he begins his latest rescue mission at the City Ground.
The 57-year-old returns to work under owner Evangelos Marinakis, with whom he previously won a domestic double at Olympiakos. Reflecting on that relationship as he spoke for the first time to the media since his appointment, Pereira said, “I remember the energy and the fire we created. He is ambitious. He wants to win. Forest are now just one place above the relegation zone, and Pereira acknowledged both the urgency and emotional demands of the challenge.
He inherits a squad unsettled by a turbulent campaign that has already seen three managerial departures. Pereira believes unity, clarity, and belief will be essential if Forest are to preserve their Premier League status. He has stressed the importance of players embracing his ideas and reconnecting with supporters to rebuild confidence and momentum.
Despite his recent dismissal by Wolves, Pereira has experience of guiding struggling sides to safety, having transformed their fortunes after taking over during a difficult spell in 2024. That record offers encouragement at a club desperate for stability.
With 12 league games remaining, Forest’s survival fight begins immediately. Pereira insists passion and commitment will underpin his approach, determined to restore belief and deliver the results required to keep the club in the top flight.
