At Olympiacos in 2015, Vitor Pereira delivered a league and cup double amid pitch invasions and controversy, a snapshot of the experienced coach now at Nottingham Forest.
According to NY Times, he is the fourth Forest head coach since September, having replaced Sean Dyche, and only Steve Cooper among the previous 17 lasted more than two years.
This is his 15th senior job at 14 clubs, with titles in Portugal with Porto and in China with Shanghai, and a habit of fast starts.
In Piraeus he imposed structure, won the league by 12 points and added the cup. He inherited an impressive group, including Ibrahim Afellay and Luka Milivojevic.
In February 2015 at Panathinaikos, with Evangelos Marinakis in the spotlight, Pereira walked the pitch and some home fans invaded. Panathinaikos won 2-1 but were docked 3 points.
Weeks later at AEK, an 89th-minute goal sparked celebrations and another invasion. The match was abandoned, awarded 3-0 to Olympiacos, and Pereira was fined. Four years on, reports in Greece said he received an eight-month suspended sentence in absentia.
Locals saw a motivator who reset morale and organisation. He departed under a cloud amid talk of contact with other clubs, then joined Fenerbahce.
Forest host Fenerbahce tonight in the Europa League play-off second leg, leading 3-0 after the first leg in Istanbul. If he keeps Forest up and advances in Europe, his stint might last longer.
