Viviano on Amorim: ‘Milan have chosen a strong coach’ | OneFootball

Emiliano Viviano has been struck by Ruben Amorim’s early work at Milan, describing the Portuguese as a strong appointment and praising his willingness to trust youth.

According to MilanNews.it, the former goalkeeper gave his assessment on Pressing following Milan’s 2-1 win at Torino, the coach’s first Serie A match in charge.

“Milan have chosen a strong coach,” Viviano said.

“It seems like just any coach has arrived, but he’s already shown he can do great things. It isn’t easy to completely change the strategy and the momentum with which you approach matches, but he’s good. I really appreciate the fact that he played Cisse. I’m positively impressed by Amorim.”

Alphadjo Cisse opened the scoring at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino, and it was the teenager’s temperament rather than his finish that caught Viviano’s eye.

“He has quality, that’s obvious, but what impressed me was how he reacted with personality to his teammates’ criticism, how he stood up to it on the pitch, how he took responsibility,” he said. “For me that makes all the difference in the world.”

Goncalo Ramos, who drew the lowest rating of Milan’s starters in Turin, also has Viviano’s backing.

“He was lacking a bit in the finishing phase, but he’s a player who does good work, defends the ball, battles, runs,” he said. “For me it’s a hugely important signing that Milan have made, he’s one of the strongest centre-forwards around and I’m convinced he’ll give Milan fans great satisfaction this year.”
