Santos have been fined R$ 4,000 by the STJD’s Fourth Disciplinary Commission for delaying the restart during their 2-1 defeat at Athletico-PR, while Vojvoda’s assistant, Gastón Liendo, was cleared of his dismissal.

According to Diario Do Peixe, the case stems from the third-round match at Arena da Baixada on 12 February. The commission delivered its ruling on Thursday 19.

At 45 minutes of the second half, after the home side scored, a plastic cup was thrown from the hosts’ section onto the pitch without hitting anyone. Santos returned four minutes late for the second half. Liendo was sent off for a second yellow for dissent.

He had been charged under CBJD article 258, paragraph two, item II, which covers conduct contrary to sporting discipline, including disrespect towards match officials. He was unanimously acquitted because the report did not specify his complaints.

Lawyer Maite Proença also represented Athletico, submitting documentary evidence after the club were charged under article 213, item III, for failing to prevent objects being thrown onto the field.

Santos were cited under article 206 for causing a delay, a provision that carries per-minute fines of R$ 100 to R$ 1,000. The club have 10 days to pay the sanction or face an infraction, with Dr Heitor Trados conducting their defence.
