WAC before Cyprus

Looking for more points away on Sunday

Before heading to Cyprus next Thursday, our Red Bulls will first travel to face Wolfsberger AC. At approximately 9,537 km², Austria's southernmost state of Carinthia is almost the same size as the Mediterranean island (approx. 9,250 km²) – and it certainly also boasts plenty of sunshine and beaches. However, our focus is clearly on the pitch: with away wins targeted –  starting on Sunday in the ADMIRAL Bundesliga.

The hunt for points at WAC won't be a walk in the park, though, as the Carinthian side's performance in the first matchday was truly impressive. Thomas Silberberger's team made a statement with their 3-0 home win against FK Austria Vienna in their league opener and, thanks to their superior goal difference, can even call themselves league leaders (level with LASK) after the first matchday. Meanwhile, we can draw on the confidence gained from three wins in three competitive matches.

Selecting attacking players will be difficult for Danny Röhl, as our Red Bulls have several players unavailable or doubtful after the grueling home match against Pafos FC. You can find more information about the issues below.

Kick-off is at the usual time this time: Sunday at 17:00 CEST. It will be shown on TV and streamed on Sky Sport Austria.

The match can also be watched, like all our Bundesliga matches, on OneFootball (with individual match streams and season passes available) except in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the following countries and regions where the following broadcasters show one to three Bundesliga matches per matchday: the Balkan region (Sportklub), Czechia and Slovakia (Arena Sport), Italy (Mola TV), Ukraine (Maincast TV), Russia (TV Start) and Israel (The Sports Channel).

Anyone travelling to support us can find out about that here:

There isn't much time between our Pafos game and Sunday. Playing in Europe is our goal though, and that's what we want – to be in multiple competitions. That's why we'll use the time in between as best we can for recovery. We obviously watched WAC's first game last weekend. They played very well, set up in a 3-4-3 system, and scored some great goals. A team that starts the season with a 3-0 win and performs like that shouldn't be underestimated.

It will certainly be a very difficult match. WAC gained a lot of confidence with their 3-0 win against Austria Vienna and will play determinedly. We have to engage in our challenges to get into the game. I believe they won't just sit back and defend, but will also try to play football, just like they did against Austria Vienna. Personally, I'm really looking forward to the match. It will be an emotional game for me because I joined WAC when I was 14, played there for many years, and became a professional there. My whole family will be there on Sunday, which is why I'm really looking forward to it.
