Sebastian Hoeness is being tipped for a bigger job in the future after leading VfB Stuttgart to a sensational second-place finish in the Bundesliga last season.
And if he does decide to move on, the Swabians could look to bring in Germany assistant coach Sandro Wagner as his replacement, according to Sky Germany.
Interestingly, Bayer Leverkusen have been linked with both Sebastian Hoeness and Sandro Wagner, with their successful coach Xabi Alonso also expected to take the next step at some point.
Wagner has been linked with a coaching job in the Bundesliga for some time. According to reports, he turned down a job at Hoffenheim in the past.
The big question is whether Wagner would be willing to leave his job ahead of the 2026 World Cup should Leverkusen or Stuttgart make a move for him.
"We have agreed that he [Wagner] will remain with us through the World cup and coordinated it as such," Germany sporting director Rudi Völler said in September.
“Of course, he likes entertaining the notion of coaching a Bundesliga club at some point. He will have a great coaching future after the World Cup.”
