Wahbi Khazri has retired at 34, bringing his playing days to a close with Montpellier and moving into a Canal+ pundit role.

According to L'Équipe, he revealed the decision on the Late Football Club on Friday night, describing it as the right moment and a page turning. He said he felt emotional, proud and happy, and that he had no regrets.

Khazri began professionally with Bastia aged 17 and a half, spending five seasons from 2009 to 2014. He then joined Bordeaux for two years from 2014 to 2016.

A move to Sunderland followed from 2016 to 2018, with a loan to Rennes in 2017-2018. He signed for Saint-Étienne in 2018 and scored a 68-metre lob against Metz in October 2021.

He left Saint-Étienne in 2022 to join Montpellier, where last season ended in relegation. Across Ligue 1 he played 319 matches and scored 75 goals. He also featured at two World Cups for Tunisia, scoring 3 goals at the tournament.
