Signe Bruun swept Denmark into an early lead, Olivia Clark turned a Sofie Bredgaard strike over the top and the woodwork came to Wales rescue when Stine Ballisager got in a header.

Wales were level after the half-hour mark, Rhiannon Roberts’ cross collected by Ceri Holland, who cut back inside to rifle a shot into the roof of the net.

Lily Woodham cleverly set up Hannah Cain but her angled effort was hit over the top, as Wales responded well to a strong start by the Danish.

Amalie Vangsgaard looked set to restore the lead for Denmark with 20 minutes left but but the chance over the bar.

Just a few seconds after Cain got through on goal from Alice Griffiths long ball and was thwarted by goalkeeper Maja Ostergaard, Vangsgaard was in again at the other end and this time made no mistake.

Holland was stretchered off following a long stoppage in the last ten minutes.

Wales are next away to Sweden on Tuesday.
