Walsall plan to hold talks with Jago Godden over his next steps as his loan at Drogheda United nears its end. According to ExpressAndStar.com, head coach Lee Grant said discussions with the player and his representatives are planned, with a club decision intended closer to that time.
His loan is due to expire at the end of November at Weavers Park. The 22-year-old New Zealander has made 30 appearances for Drogheda, contributing two goals and two assists.
Godden joined Walsall from National League North side Bedford Town in February, then immediately moved on loan to fellow Trivela-owned Drogheda. On signing he agreed an 18-month contract with an option for a further 12 months.
He began his career in New Zealand, spending four years with Christchurch before moving to England. He joined Bedford in November 2025, scoring three in his first four league games and four in 11 overall before stepping up to the Football League earlier this year.
Grant said the process would involve himself, Godden and his representatives, as well as Stewart Mairs and Ben Sadler, stressing it would be a collective call once they reach that point.
Godden marked his Drogheda debut by coming off the bench to score the winner at Galway United, and struck again against the same opponents in a home defeat in April.
