Walsall have signed 21-year-old goalkeeper Tom Wooster on a one-year contract with a 12-month option after his release by West Ham at the end of last season.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, he is the Saddlers’ 13th summer addition and will provide cover and competition for Jed Ward and Jenson Kilroy.

Barnsley-born Wooster came through his hometown club before moving to Manchester United. He won the FA Youth Cup with the under-21s in 2022 and signed his first professional deal that year.

During his time at Old Trafford he had loan spells with Ramsbottom United, Macclesfield Town and Farsley Celtic. United released him in 2025 and he spent last season with West Ham’s under-21s, making 14 appearances in all competitions.

Wooster said the squad had made him feel welcome and he was eager to get started. He praised the standards and atmosphere, added that the head coach had been brilliant and noted he had other options this summer.

Describing his style, he said keeping the ball out of the net comes first, he aims to be loud and a presence, and believes distribution is his strongest attribute. Head coach Lee Grant, who previously crossed paths with him at Manchester United, said Wooster is young, athletic and eager to show himself, and will raise competition in the goalkeeping group.
