In a sobering reflection on the dark side of football fame, Kaizer Chiefs' rising star Wandile Duba has courageously revealed the disturbing reality he faces off the pitch. The 21-year-old striker, widely regarded as one of Amakhosi's most promising academy graduates, disclosed that he has been subjected to severe online abuse—including death threats—that recently left him in no mental state to play.

The revelation came during a community event at Phulong Secondary School in Kwa-Thema, where Duba was participating in the Nedbank multipurpose court handover. When asked about criticism directed at his aggressive playing style, the young forward initially defended his approach as simply executing coach Nasreddine Nabi's tactical instructions.

However, he then unveiled a far more troubling dimension to his experience. "It's just the comments, people coming into your account, threatening to kill you and all that," Duba shared. The impact has been profoundly personal and professional. "Even in the last game, I wasn't in the right state of mind. I didn't even go to play."

In facing this relentless hostility, Duba credited his brother as a vital source of strength and perspective. "I usually speak to my brother," he explained. "He always calms me down because, at times, I feel like talking back or sending a text back." This support system has become essential in helping him navigate the intense scrutiny and vitriol that has accompanied his rise at Naturena—a stark reminder of the human vulnerability behind the professional athlete.
