FLW's Leicester City fan pundit believes it may be time for a managerial change at the King Power Stadium amid growing pressure on Marti Cifuentes.

After an inconsistent first half of the season in the Championship, pressure is continuing to build on Leicester City manager Marti Cifuentes.

Cifuentes took over at Leicester in the summer following their relegation from the Premier League, and while he was tasked with securing an immediate return to the top flight, it has been a frustrating season for the Foxes so far.

After a run of three defeats in four games over the festive period, some of the scrutiny on Cifuentes was eased as the Foxes secured a 2-1 home win over West Bromwich Albion in their last league outing, and they currently sit 12th in the table, just four points from the play-off places.

However, even though Leicester are still in touch with the top six, it is fair to say that performances this season have often been unconvincing, and the statistics do not make particularly good reading for Cifuentes.

At the turn of the year, the Foxes had covered the least amount of distance in the Championship, and they also ranked third-lowest for sprints, but when questioned on those figures, Cifuentes would not be drawn on whether he was concerned by them, instead insisting that he has "addressed" the areas that he feels are in need of improvement.

With back-to-back away games against league leaders Coventry City and in-form Wrexham next up for Leicester, it does not get much easier for Cifuentes, while they are also still waiting to discover whether they will receive a points deduction this season.

When asked for his thoughts on the worrying statistics, FLW's Leicester City fan pundit Louchlainn Martin admitted that he believes there are some members of the squad who are not prepared to fight for the club, and he claimed that, if the Foxes are unable or unwilling to back Cifuentes in the transfer market, a managerial change should be made.

"We saw some stats and data on the telly the other day about the distance covered figures and the sprints stats as well," Louchlainn told FLW.

"It is super concerning, and I think Leicester fans are struggling to put their finger on why we are so low for both of those things.

"For me, it's a combination of two different things.

"There are some players in the squad who do not want to fight for the shirt and are looking elsewhere, they maybe have their head halfway out the door.

"That's what I think is contributing to those running stats, but I did see some data recently that suggested that Marti Cifuentes' team at QPR was also quite low down these rankings.

"They weren't bottom or anywhere near as bad as Leicester are this season, but they weren't anywhere near the top.

"For a lower-half side, which QPR were when Marti Cifuentes came in, you'd expect their running stats would actually be higher because you have to bridge the gap of a lack of quality with more running and more effort, but it doesn't look like his teams did that.

"It is concerning, but I think a lot of Leicester fans now are maybe past the point of concern with Marti Cifuentes.

"There was definitely concern at the start of the season about how it would end up, but now there are just a lot of fans that want him gone and don't want him here anymore.

"It's less concern now and more frustration and anger that he hasn't been sacked.

"If he is going to be backed, I would be open to seeing him stay, but he's already proven that with this squad, he can only manage 12th place.

"So if we're not able to reinvest, he should probably go."

Marti Cifuentes must improve one big Leicester City factor to avoid Foxes sack

While Leicester have suffered their fair share of defeats this season, they have also had some big wins in recent weeks, including over the likes of Ipswich Town, Derby County and West Brom, which perhaps explains why Cifuentes is still in charge at the King Power Stadium.

However, even in those victories, the Foxes' performances have been far from impressive, with individual moments of brilliance or long-range strikes from the likes of Abdul Fatawu or Jordan James often coming to Cifuentes' rescue.

If performance levels do not improve significantly, it will be impossible for Leicester to maintain their play-off challenge, and the lack of running and distance covered suggests that the squad are not currently fighting for Cifuentes.
