Real wins its case, Tebas lashes out at Madrid

War breaks out between Tebas and Real Madrid
Real Madrid has claimed a major legal victory after Spain’s Supreme Court overturned the Disposición Adicional Segunda of LaLiga’s statutes, in effect since 2015. The ruling mandates a return to the original distribution of television rights for the 2015-2016 season, split 60% for LaLiga and 40% for Segunda División, then divided equally within each division.
The Merengue club, claiming that €8.8 million was "illegitimately withheld" from them, also asserts that nearly €88 million should be returned to Segunda División teams. The club welcomes a decision "that once again proves Real Madrid right" and restores "legality and transparency."
Javier Tebas, meanwhile, fired back forcefully. "Neither €8.8 million for Real Madrid, nor €88 million for certain Segunda clubs," wrote the LaLiga president on X, firmly disputing the figures put forward by the club. He pointed out that the settlements had been approved at the 2015 and 2016 assemblies, accusing Real of waging a deceptive media campaign: "It’s hard to invent as many things as Real Madrid does." Tebas referenced a string of legal threats, controversial projects like the Super League, and repeated financial demands, all allegedly aimed at weakening LaLiga.
