The 22-year-old has taken a big step towards returning to action before the end of the season
Manchester United winger Amad Diallo is back running on grass as he steps up his recovery from injury.
Amad has been sidelined with an ankle problem suffered in training back in February ahead of the Premier League clash away at Tottenham in what was a significant blow to Man Utd head coach Ruben Amorim.
In an otherwise disappointing campaign for the Red Devils, Amad’s emergence has been a positive with the Ivorian scoring nine goals and weighing in with eight assists in 36 appearances across all competitions.
Whilst it is expected that the 22-year-old will miss Thursday’s Europa League decider at home to Lyon on Thursday, there’s every chance he could return to action before the end of the season.
Taking to Instagram on Monday, Amad provided an encouraging update regarding his fitness by uploading a video clip on Instagram of him doing some individual training.
The brief video shows the winger jogging on grass with a prayer hand and heart eyes emojis accompanying the post.
Intially, Amad was ruled out for the remainder of the season. However, Amorim has recently revealed he is hopeful of having the winger available for selection before the campaign draws to a close.
Speaking to MUTV ahead of the Manchester derby earlier in the month, Amorim said: “He’s doing quite well. We hope to have him before the season is finished.
“We'll see, but he's anxious to play, so we are waiting for him.”
Man Utd have Wolves, Bournemouth, Brentford, West Ham, Chelsea and Aston Villa in their final six Premier League games and could yet have three more Europa League fixtures to navigate provided they overcome Lyon.
