La Liga giants Barcelona on Monday organised a match between ranks at the club’s latest training base, highlights of which have since come to the fore online.

Hansi Flick’s stars are of course currently in the thick of preparations for the new season.

Last week, Barca made the journey to England, to play out a friendly meeting with Birmingham City. The club’s 2nd scheduled fixture of the trip, against Preston North End on Monday, though, was cancelled at the last minute.

The Blaugrana therefore stayed put at their training base at St. George’s Park. And this morning, Flick and his staff organised a replacement outing, a competitive clash between ranks.

A host of first-team stars featured from the off, with the respective XIs rounded out by academy talents and those pushing for a senior berth for the season ahead.

When all was said and done, the spoils were shared in a 1-1 stalemate. Fermín López was responsible for opening the scoring, before full-back starlet Xavi Espart netted the equaliser at the other end.
