Atlético Madrid star Giuliano Simeone on Sunday made use of the opportunity to send a message of support to all of those affected by the devastating DANA in Valencia.
Atlético marked their return to action a short time ago, welcoming Las Palmas to the Spanish capital for a La Liga clash.
When all was said and done, the afternoon’s hosts managed a return to winning ways on the league front, owing to a hard-fought 2-0 result.
And it was the aforementioned Giuliano Simeone who set them on their way to as much, late in the first-half.
Set free over the top by Nahuel Molina, the young attacker did superbly to drive towards goal, before picking out the far corner with a pinpoint strike.
This marked Simeone’s first goal in Atlético colours, giving rise to an understandably passionate celebration on the part of the son of Rojiblancos boss Diego.
As alluded to above, though, from here, football for a moment took a back seat…
This came as Simeone and Atlético captain Koke came together to hold up a jersey, featuring a heartfelt message of support for all affected by this week’s storm in the city of Valencia.
