Real Madrid president Florentino Perez made an appearance at the prestigious Laureus Awards ceremony held in Madrid on Monday evening.

The event saw Real Madrid honoured with the award for the Best Team of the Year, a recognition of their outstanding performances last season.

Perez attended the ceremony alongside several iconic figures from the club, including Pirri, Emilio Butragueno, Dani Carvajal, and Luka Modric.

The players represented Real Madrid on stage as they proudly collected the award on behalf of the club.

Figo and Perez share humorous exchange

While the event was filled with elegance and celebration, one of the most memorable moments of the evening came on the red carpet.

Former Real Madrid star Luis Figo was speaking to members of the press when Florentino Perez arrived. What followed was a light-hearted exchange that added a touch of humour to the otherwise formal setting.

Spotting Perez walking by, Figo smiled and said to the media, “Look, the president is coming this way, you can ask him,” referring the Carlo Anclotti’s uncertain future at Real Madrid.

He called out to Perez, who walked over to greet the Portuguese legend. Figo, continuing the playful mood, added, “Look, they’re asking me about Ancelotti.”

Without missing a beat, Perez replied with a grin, “This is Luis Figo, in case you don’t know him.”

His quick-witted comment drew laughter from both the reporters and those nearby. Interestingly, it was the only remark Florentino made to the press during the entire evening.

Although Perez did not give an official statement on Ancelotti or any current club matters, his presence and the club’s win were enough to highlight a successful evening for Los Blancos.

As far as Ancelotti is concerned, everything points to the fact that the Italian will end his second tenure at the end of the season. Until then, Real Madrid will continue to focus on the two trophies, namely, the La Liga and the Copa del Rey.
