Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alono wasted no time in departing the touchline on the back of his side’s meeting with Manchester City on Wednesday.
This of course comes after Los Blancos were condemned to just their latest disappointing result.
Real marked their return to action a short time ago, welcoming Pep Guardiola’s Man City to the Santiago Bernabéu for a highly-anticipated Champions League showdown.
Alonso and co. headed into the matchup aware that a bounce-back result was something of a must, amid a stretch of just two wins in seven across all competitions.
When all was said and done, however, the crisis in Spain’s capital only continued to worsen…
After taking the lead during the first-half through the rejuvenated Rodrygo, defensive lapses cost Real Madrid dear on their way to a 2-1 defeat.
Already under major pressure, Xabi Alonso’s place on the Bernabéu touchline is now considered to be in serious jeopardy.
And as much was reflected in the actions of the former midfielder post-match on Wednesday.
Following the full-time whistle bringing proceedings to a close, Alonso shook the hand of Pep Guardiola, before heading straight down the tunnel back to the dressing room:
