The Barcelona youngster was pipped to the main award on Monday night by the PSG star

Lamine Yamal showed his class moments after Ousmane Dembele was crowned the 2025 Ballon d’Or winner.

Dembele scooped football’s most prestigious individual honour on Monday night as the iconic Theatre du Chatelet staged one of the biggest and glitziest nights of the sporting calendar.

Dembele scooped the top prize after playing a key role Paris Saint-Germain’s historic quadruple success last season, with PSG finally ending their long wait for Champions League glory.

Yamal was considered as the biggest threat to the Frenchman’s chances after his magnificent season with Barcelona and Spain.

However, the talented teenager had to settle for second place ahead of PSG midfielder Vitinha who pipped Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah to a top three finish.

And it was clear the youngster was delighted for his fellow Ballon d’Or rival as the pair shared a warm embrace.

Yamal did not leave the ceremony empty handed as he successfully defended his Kopa Trophy, an award handed to the best player in the world under the age of 21.

He said: "Firstly, thank you to France Football for the award It's an honour to be here again."

“I would also like to thank my club Barcelona, as well as the national team, because without them I would not be here."
