Noel Gallagher has explained why Celtic Park was a “no-brainer” choice for Oasis as the band prepares to open its 2027 world tour in Glasgow.

The Gallagher brothers will play five huge shows at the home of Celtic next May, with performances scheduled for May 21, 23, 25, 28 and 29.

The Parkhead dates will mark the beginning of Oasis’ latest global tour, with the final Glasgow show falling on Noel’s 60th birthday.

Explaining the decision to take Oasis to Celtic Park, Gallagher told talkSPORT: “We don’t want to play anywhere we played before, because it keeps it interesting for us.”

Celtic Park therefore offered something different, with Oasis having never previously performed at the stadium.

Gallagher’s longstanding affection for Celtic also made Parkhead an obvious destination. Both Noel and Liam are lifelong Manchester City supporters, but their family’s Irish heritage has helped forge a strong connection with the Scottish champions.

The concerts will also coincide with a significant period in Celtic’s history, coming as the club marks the 60th anniversary of its famous European Cup triumph in Lisbon.
