Watch the official Newcastle 3 Benfica 0 match highlights below.
Eddie Howe’s team with an excellent performance and result.
Benfica had their moments in the first half but Newcastle United had even more.
Then as this Champions League clash progressed, United taking more and more control and very much deserved three goal winners by the end.
When you are at the match, some things you don’t appreciate at the time and Bruno’s pass for the opening goal is one of them, at least for me. What a stunning ball to release Murphy behind the Benfica defence and then Gordon finishing.
The second goal, I loved so much about this.
Nick Pope has been brilliant this season, although some Newcastle United fans seem to have a real problem with accepting this.
Anyway, as well as making it now seven clean sheets in 11 games this season, the United keeper with a stunning assist for the second goal. Barnes still had loads to do and did that brilliantly with his run and finish, however, just watch on these highlights how happy the United players are for Pope with their celebrations.
Then you have that absolutely top notch team goal to round it off, the likes of Gordon and Woltemade superb, with then Barnes once again coolly finishing.
A great night and some real quality moments.
See for yourselves.
