Real Madrid’s season so far has been spearheaded by the team’s attack, particularly Kylian Mbappe who has made it his sole responsibility to find the back of the net more often than not for Los Blancos.
The Frenchman’s red-hot streak may not have continued in the team’s game against Elche last night where he failed to score, but he has been one of the team’s leaders through action as he always pushes the team forward with his contributions.
Last night’s fixture, however, brought out a new side of the player for the cameras to capture as he was seen being a vocal leader on the field.
While he has always been one to push the team forward, his actions last night show the growth of his influence.
Mbappe’s leadership against Elche was not captured by the cameras once or twice but a plethora of times as he made it his responsibility to lead the team.
For beginners, the French forward stepped up and protested with the referee when Elche’s goalkeeper Inaki Pena was wasting time on the night, clearly showing his dissatisfaction and making it clear that it was intentional.
On several moments during the game, he was also seen angrily talking to his teammates and gesturing that they must do better, both on an individual and a collective level.
Notably, the Frenchman was one of the only Real Madrid players to urge the team forward after Elche scored their goal. Staring in disappointment, he quickly put it behind him and exclaimed, ‘Normal, this is normal?’, pushing the team for an equaliser.
Now over a season into the club’s dynamics, Mbappe has adapted well and is the focal point of Real Madrid’s plans. If his numbers and attitude stay the same, captaincy may not be too far away.
