West Ham fell to defeat against Crystal Palace in a big wake up call for the club.
Despite the buoyancy of having a new Head Coach in Graham Potter, this match was evidence of the significant task the former Brighton boss has on his hands.
The lack of options for the new boss was clear in the lineup, with a gaping hole in terms of creativity and vision, as West Ham struggled to create against a well organised Palace side.
The visitors came away with a deserved 2-0 win at the London Stadium, as Potter now may need to ramp up the urgency in bringing in reinforcements this transfer window.
Speaking after the game, Hammers Chat Forum host Gonzo shared his thoughts on the game, and the task at hand for Potter.
“This was a match where Potter was unable to turn water into wine,” said the channel host.
“There was a clear lack of creativity in that team, it’s a big problem. Three shots on target in two home matches shows that.
“Credit to Potter for bringing on the Academy players, I feel they all gave him things to ponder, as I felt that brought energy and the fans responded to that too.”
Attention now turns back on the club to work on arrivals this window to help a team that clearly needs a lot of work.
