The former Manchester United midfielder has been given the manager’s job on a permanent basis after impressing at the end of last season after taking the role on a temporary basis.

The 2023/24 season was a rather disappointing campaign for the Hornets, as they finished in 15th place, 17 points adrift of the play-off places, with them finishing only six points ahead of the relegation zone.

Cleverley will be tasked with getting the club back into contention for the play-offs, and to do that, it is likely the club is going to have to make some changes to the squad over the coming weeks.

With that said, here at Football League World, we have decided to look at the latest news coming out of Watford

Watford, West Bromwich Albion, and Sunderland are all interested in signing midfielder Ollie Norwood this summer.

That is according to journalist Michael Graham, who states that all three sides hold a serious interest in the player.

Norwood is currently a free agent after leaving Sheffield United following their relegation from the Premier League.

The 33-year-old was with the Blades for five years, but he also played for the Yorkshire side on loan for six months before joining on a permanent basis.

Norwood looks not to be short of interest, as Watford, Sunderland, and West Brom are all keen on the player, but according to Graham, nothing is advanced yet.

Watford look to be closing in on the signing of Rocco Vata from Scottish Premiership side Celtic.

It was reported by Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph earlier this week that the Hornets are in advanced talks with the Hoops over the signing of Vata.

He stated that Watford are offering the player a four-year deal, and Celtic would be due £237,000 in compensation should Vata join the Championship side.

Now, in a further update, Joseph has stated that Vata is set to undergo his Watford medical on Wednesday, meaning the deal is closer to being completed.

The 19-year-old came through the academy at Celtic, playing for the club’s youth team as well as the B team.

The Irishman has played six times for the Hoops, with those appearances coming in the league and the Scottish Cup, and the attacker has one goal to his name, which he grabbed last season.

Watford are interested in a move for Queens Park Rangers defender Kenneth Paal, according to West London Sport.

Paal is in the final 12 months of his contract at the West London side, and therefore, he could be sold this summer before the club loses him for free in a year.

The report states that talks have taken place between QPR and Paal over a new contract, but the Rs are open to selling the defender if he doesn’t commit his future to the club.

The Hornets are believed to be looking to sign a left-back this summer after having Jamal Lewis on loan from Newcastle United last season.

Paal joined QPR in the summer of 2022 from Dutch side PEC Zwolle, and since arriving at the club, the left-back has played 87 times for the Championship side, during which he has scored five goals and recorded four assists.
