The 32-year-old joined the Hammers in January 2023 from Aston Villa, but he has endured a tough time with the Londoners, having scored just four goals in that period.

With his contract expiring in the summer, Ings will be on the lookout for a new club, and it has been claimed that he is on the radar of Wrexham, with the Welsh side expected to be ambitious in the market following their promotion to the Championship.

Watford considering transfer move for Danny Ings

However, the Red Dragons won’t have a clear run at the player, as the Sky Sports Transfer Centre (7th June, 22:31) revealed that Watford are also in the mix for Ings’ signature.

Given his contract situation, Ings will be assessing the options he has over the coming weeks, with his West Ham deal set to officially expire at the end of the month.

Any move for the ex-England international would be considered a coup, as he has spent the past 11 years in the Premier League for Liverpool, Southampton and Villa before his switch to West Ham.

Watford are right to target more firepower this summer - Danny Ings could provide that

It has already been a turbulent period for Watford since the Championship season finished, as the club made the harsh decision to sack Tom Cleverley, with Paulo Pezzolano brought in as his successor.

Now, it’s about backing the new boss in the market to give him the tools to succeed, and it’s clear that bringing in a striker has to be one of the priorities.

Vakoun Bayo scored ten times in the league last season, and he was the only player to hit double figures, so it was a real problem for the Hornets.

Ings could be the man to rectify those goalscoring issues, as, providing he stays fit, you would expect him to be a very good player in the Championship, even at his age.

Of course, this will be a difficult deal for Watford to do given the competition for the player, but it’s the sort of signing they should be trying to make as they look to push for promotion.
