Lazio youth product Romano Floriani Mussolini has a host of suitors in Italy and abroad, but Watford are reportedly his staunchest admirers.

The Background

The 22-year-old impressed this season at Juve Stabia who decided to trigger their option to sign him on a permanent basis, but Lazio responded by activating their buy-back clause, thus re-signing the player for circa €400,000. Nevertheless, he might not dwell in Formello for too long.

Romano Floriani Mussolini Facing Uncertain Future

According to Il Corriere dello Sport (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), the Aquile are considering offloading the promising right-back. The Roman newspaper believes that finding a buyer won’t be too difficult, as he’s already tracked by four or five Serie A clubs, in addition to a long queue of Serie B sides.

Watford Keeping Close Tabs on Mussolini

Moreover, the source reveals interest from several English sides, and chief among them is Watford, a club owned by the Puzzo family, and thus tends to sign players from Italy. The report adds that Mussolini’s agents, Federico Pastorello and Maurizio Tonicchi, held a meeting with Lazio sporting director, Angelo Fabiani, on Thursday to discuss the player’s future.

Two Potential Formulas

It is believed that the club would be open to selling the full-back if they were to receive offers in the region of €10 million, in addition to a significant sell-on fee. Another option would be a new loan spell with an option and a counter-option, similar to the arrangement made with Juve Stabia last summer.
