Moroccan forward Othman Maamma (20) will not be joining Ligue 1 this winter, according to a report from RMC Sport.

The Watford player, courted by AS Monaco, who offered a loan with an option to buy, as well as Lille and Nantes, will spend the second half of the season with the Hornets, currently 10th in the Championship and just four points off the playoff places for promotion to the Premier League.

Maamma, who was crowned Under-20 World Champion last summer, scoring one goal and registering four assists, had also been linked with AS Roma, who offered Watford a loan deal similar to that proposed by Monaco.

Having come through the ranks at Montpellier HSC, where he made his professional debut during the 2023/24 season, Maamma moved to England last summer. He has played 16 times since the start of the season, scoring three goals and providing one assist for the Vicarage Road residents.
