Moussa Sissoko (34) is close to rejoining Watford two years after his departure as his FC Nantes’ journey came to an end following his contract expiry.

After weeks of suspense, Nantes have ultimately made it official that Sissoko will not renew his contract, leaving after two years with Les Jaunes et Verts. The central midfielder brought his international experience to a club that came close to relegation twice but managed to save themselves with the return of Antoine Kombouaré as head coach. The former Tottenham player comes off two solid seasons at the Stade de la Beaujoire, and is set to rejoin Watford for a second experience with the London-based outfit.

According to a report by Foot Mercato, Sissoko will sign a two-year deal with Watford and is expected to complete his medical on Monday. The former French international spent the 2021/2022 season with the Hornets when they were competing in the Premier League before being sold to FC Nantes following the club’s relegation from the Premier League to the Championship, where the club still competes ahead of the upcoming season.
