Watford Star Poised For Medical To Seal Vicarage Road Exit | OneFootball

Watford star Egil Selvik is set for a medical check with French outfit Brest before he puts pen to paper and finalises his move.

The Hornets signed Selvik from Italian side Udinese in the winter of 2025 following then first-choice goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann’s injury. –

Last season, Selvik featured 40 times for Watford in the Championship, kept seven clean sheets in process and conceded 56 goals.

Watford appointed a new manager in the form of Alessio Dionisi this summer and the Italian brought in Federico Ravaglia in the ongoing window from Bologna to add more quality.

Ravaglia’s arrival at Vicarage Road raised doubt over his 29-year-old Selvik’s game time and he was linked with a move away from the club.

The Norwegian international was linked with a move back to Udinese this summer, with their first-choice goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye, being injured, but it was later revealed that he was not a concrete option for them.

In France, Brest emerged as suitors for Selvik, who is currently in the final year of his contract with the Championship side.

According to Norwegian broadcaster TV2, Watford have agreed to a deal with the Ligue 1 club to let Selvik join them this summer.

The 29-year-old shot-stopper is now to go through a medical with Brest and if all goes well he will sign a deal with them.

Selvik was part of Norway’s 2026 World Cup squad and he featured in Norway’s 4-1 defeat against France.

His departure will leave Dionisi with Ravaglia and Bachmann as options in the senior team and it remains to be seen whether they will get back in the market to sign another goalkeeper.
