In the end, the Hammers secured a narrow 1-0 win that helps their prospects of finishing in the top four of the division.

A Jarrod Bowen deflected goal was enough to decide the game.

Post-game, King told BT Sport: "It was a tough game. We defended so well and could have grabbed something. I can see that we are improving. It started off last week. We lost in the last 10 minutes and we need to focus on Saturday now.

"Our last game against Burnley was our first clean sheet of the season and that isn't good enough. It was trying to do the same again here. It is always tough coming here. They have talented players and they know their structure. We felt we should have left here with at least a point.

"The last two game shave been positive since Roy took over. It has been an uplift. We lost today and we know we have a big job with 16 games left. We have a good squad. We have the fight and the players to keep ourselves safe. It is going to be tough. There are five teams battling for it and only three go down."
