Ollie Watkins believes England and Aston Villa team-mate Morgan Rogers can go “to the very top” of the game.

Rogers enjoyed another strong campaign with Villa, playing a key role, along with Watkins, in securing Champions League qualification and the Europa League title for Unai Emery’s side.

His form has unsurprisingly attracted the interest of other clubs, with Arsenal believed to be preparing an approach for the 23-year-old.

But for now, the focus for the Villa duo is on winning more silverware this summer with England at the World Cup.

And Watkins believes Rogers has the ability to play a decisive role for the Three Lions at the tournament.

“I think Morgan can go to the very top,” he said.

“You’ve seen what he can do in a short space of time, in 18 months, how he’s developed and started to perform at that top, top level which has got him all the recognition that he deserves.

“I think he’s got his head on his shoulders, he’s an intelligent guy who is hard working and very confident in his own ability.

“I think he can go to the very top.”
