Ollie Watkins believes Aston Villaâs clash with Bayern Munich is âa great opportunity to showcase what we can do again on the biggest stage.â
The game will be the first Champions League tie at Villa Park in over 40 years, as well as a repeat of the 1982 final, and ahead of the big night, the clubâs striker has given an insight into how he and his teammates are feeling.
âIt will be unbelievable, Iâm sure,â said Watkins.
âItâs massive for the fans, and obviously us as players. Itâs going to be a great opportunity to showcase what we can do again on the biggest stage.
Itâs the biggest stage so youâre going to play against the biggest teams. But those are the sort of draws you want if you want to test yourself against the best and we are all really looking forward to it.â
One player who will miss out on the glamour tie is captain John McGinn, who is still recovering from a hamstring injury.
However, he is equally as excited about facing Bayern, as well as Juventus later in the competition, and is adamant Villa are not here just to take part.
âPlaying Bayern Munich and Juventus at Villa Park will be special, I cannot wait for that atmosphere,â added McGinn.
âIâm glad weâve been able to deliver that to our supporters. The expectation in the dressing room is that we finish in the top eight and go all the way.â
Villa will be looking to make it two wins from two against the German giants, having beaten Young Boys 3-0 in their opening game.
