KV Mechelen are struggling on the injury front. Alongside long term injuries to the likes of Mory Konate, Bill Antonio and Zinho Vanhuesden, the side are also without Nikola Storm and Daam Foulon at the moment. As such, KV Mechelen head coach Besnik Hasi has made a plea to the board. He wants some reinforcements in January.
As reported by HLN, Hasi said ‘The club knows where we absolutely need reinforcements’. Hasi then went on to criticise some of the summer transfers. The likes of Vanheusden and Jules Van Cleemput where brought in despite having a history of injuries. Both are out and have rarely featured for the side this season.
Despite the injury struggles, Hasi has managed to get the side into contention for the top six. However, as these injuries build up, the likelihood of a sustained push for a top six finish appears unlikely. The head coach indicated that Sporting Director Tim Matthys is working on a few players ahead of the window who, according to Hasi, could be with the club to start the new year.
