The question we were asking Newcastle United fans on Wednesday was – Where do you now think Newcastle United will finish this season in the Premier League?
We are now heading towards the end of January 2025.
Newcastle United having played 22 Premier League matches so far this season.
With Southampton away on Saturday fast approaching.
Newcastle United also of course into the FA Cup fourth round, as well as potentially only 90 minutes from Wembley in the League Cup, 2-0 up ahead of the semi-final home leg against Arsenal.
Concentrating here though on the Premier League, how high can Newcastle United finish?
This is how the Premier League table currently looks (Thursday 23 January 2025):
Plenty of time and action still to go, 16 Premier League matches still to play, but if you had to put your mortgage/rent on it, what is your gut feeling on where Newcastle United will end up in this 2024/25 season?
Our thanks to all who voted and here is the collective result from Newcastle United fans on how they think NUFC will do this season (percentages rounded up or down to nearest whole number):
1st – 1%
2nd – 1%
3rd – 4%
4th – 11%
5th – 38%
6th – 31%
7th – 9%
8th – 4%

16th – 0%
17th – 0%
18th – 0%
19th – 0%
20th – 0%
Conclusions
Only a very small handful of those voting, voted for a bottom half position. Indeed, no position below 8th getting 0.51% of the total vote that would have seen a 1% put against that placing.
Fifth place the most popular with 38% of the vote, whilst sixth got 31%, then 11% saying fourth.
Which is the real story I think of the voting, 80% of the Newcastle United fans believing somewhere between fourth and sixth is most likely.
Averaging out all the votes, Newcastle United fans collectively thought fifth was the most likely finishing position (it averaged out at 5.1).
