‘We can win it’: Mac Allister rallies Liverpool and Anfield faithful before Champions League opener vs Atletico | OneFootball

Alexis Mac Allister has said Liverpool can win the Champions League this season ahead of the club's opening fixture against Atletico Madrid.

Liverpool begin their European campaign under the Anfield lights against Atletico Madrid tomorrow evening.

The Reds have not progressed past theChampions League quarter-finals since 2022, exiting to eventual winners Paris Saint-Germain in each of the last two seasons.

However, Mac Allister is confident Andoni Iraola's side have what it takes to make an impact, and potentially win the tournament.

"I am very confident about this season," he said at apre-game press conference.

"We have a lot of quality, we have a very good coach that brought his ideas.

"I think we improved a lot since the beginning of the season, we have the desire to win trophies. We have experience, we have trophies, we have everything to be successful, but we need to be all together.

"You can have the best players, best ideas, but if we are not on the same page, it's impossible."

Mac Allister said he is looking forward to another 'special' European night on Merseyside and has called on the Anfield support to make a difference.

"It's so special for me, I really enjoy them [European nights].

"When I arrived to the club, we were in the Europa League and you can see the difference to a Champions League game.

"Hopefully we can play good football so the fans can get behind us."
