Paris Saint-Germain claimed a 5-4 win over Bayern Munich at the Parc des Princes to take a small advantage to Bavaria next week.
The pair delivered a pulsating UEFA Champions League semi-final match-up, with the world-class players on display proving their mettle on the grand stage.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia bagged two well-taken goals, and so did Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembele, with Joao Neves also getting in on the action.
Bayern responded through Harry Kane, Dayot Upamecano, Luis Diaz, and Michael Olise, serving up an unbelievable game.
PSG manager Luis Enrique called it the best game he has been involved in as a gaffer, and that says a lot considering he was involved in La Remontada.
Both teams had several opportunities to add to the scoreline, and Enrique recognised it.
The Spanish tactician said (via Fabrizio Romano), “I’ve never seen such an intensity and physical level. We have to congratulate everyone.
“We deserved to win, we deserved to draw, and we deserved to lose today. It was a fantastic game.”
The PSG boss also reiterated that his side will go to Germany to try and win the game. They will aim to attack and complete the job. It is the only way he knows how to approach the game.
He also reserved praise for Bayern’s frontline of Olise, Diaz, and Kane. With those three on the side, the Germans have every chance of turning the tide at the Allianz Arena.
The trio became the first treble outside of Barcelona and Real Madrid to record 100 goals in a season. If they bring their A-game, they can be unstoppable.
Bayern manager Vincent Kompany has called for his fans to bring the intensity when they lock horns, as the team will feast off that energy in their bid to knock out the reigning champions.
What a game we have on our hands!
