FLW's Norwich City fan pundit has given his verdict on Mo Toure's future amid Emi Marcondes' recent comments

Emi Marcondes has claimed that Norwich City striker Mo Toure won’t be with the club for much longer after his strong start to the new season.

Speaking to 10 Sport, the 31-year-old praised the impact that Toure has had with the team since joining last January.

But he believes that the player is destined for bigger things than staying at Carrow Road, and that he could be playing at a higher level sooner rather than later.

The Australia international joined the Canaries in the winter market last season, and has so far made a big impact in Philippe Clement’s side.

Toure scored nine goals from 11 appearances in the Championship in 2025/26, and was instrumental to the team’s rise up to ninth in the table.

And he’s already scored four times from the opening six games of the new campaign, with Norwich hoping to compete for promotion to the Premier League.

January exit unlikely for Mo Toure

When asked about Marcondes’ comments, FLW’s Norwich fan pundit Zeke Downes claimed that a departure could be on the cards in the future, but it will likely have to wait until next summer after the end of the campaign.

He believes a January exit is unlikely because the Canaries currently hold all of the cards, but that if they fail to get promoted then a sale for the right price could come to fruition in 2027.

“I’d imagine that we will be having some interest for Mo Toure,” Downes told Football League World.

“I don’t think it would be smart to let him go in the January window, but if we don’t go up then I’d assume that he will probably leave at the end of the season.

“But it sort of depends on the price, obviously.

“Because he is under contract, so we do hold the cards there.

“I’d say it’s likely he won’t stay at the club too long, it seemed like he was happy with the interest he was getting, so probably would be keen on a move if a bigger club came in.

“I think it is likely, but the fact that we got him for cheap means we can make a lot of money on it hopefully.”

Mo Toure’s importance to Norwich

Toure made the switch to Norwich from Danish side Randers, and was instrumental in helping the club turn around their form in the second half of the season.

The Canaries ultimately finished ninth in the table, just eight points adrift of the top six, and will be targeting a top eight finish in 2026/27.

Toure has already found the back of the net on four occasions this campaign after just six games, scoring twice against Burnley, as well as against Sheffield United and Middlesbrough.

Victories over the Clarets and the Blades have helped earn nine points from their opening seven fixtures.

Toure did miss the 2-1 win against Birmingham City, but has otherwise started every game in the league this term, as well as the EFL Cup first round win against MK Dons in which he also scored.

Next up for Norwich in the league is a home clash against Bolton Wanderers on 20 September in a 1.30pm kick-off.

Mo Toure January speculation will be inevitable

Toure was linked with Porto and Hull City in the summer, as well as Trabzonspor, but he ultimately stayed at Carrow Road.

The forward has a contract with the Canaries until June 2030, giving the club a lot of leverage in any transfer talks in the next 12 months.

And if he can keep up his current form, then January interest is inevitable, as he has proved in these early weeks of the season that he is no flash in the pan.

The forward is consistently finding the back of the net, and is surely one of the favourites for the golden boot this year, provided Norwich can hold onto him all the way through to May.
