FC Barcelona had to face defeat in their blockbuster tie against Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League last night. The two teams fought toe-to-toe, but ultimately, the Blaugranes conceded a goal in the final moments of the game, which handed a 1-2 win to the Parisians.

One of the Barcelona players who talked to the media after the game was the midfielder Frenkie de Jong. As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the Dutchman expressed his disappointment with the defeat, and conceded it was a game of two halves for his team:

“Very disappointed, we lost at home in the last minute. They were better in the final stage, and in the second half overall. It was more evenly matched in the first half, and we were better, especially in the opening minutes, but it’s true that they were better in the second half.”

Although disappointing, De Jong was also clear that this loss does not really mean too much:

“We also have absences; it was a good match to see where we stand. We are also a top team in Europe, but although this defeat hurts, it is not decisive in the Champions League.”

The Dutch midfielder was also driven to see improvements in his team going forward:

“We always want to win. We don’t leave with a good feeling. We have to improve, we know it, and we’re going to do it.”

Hopefully, these improvements will come soon, as Barcelona are aiming to finally win another UCL title this season, and to do so, they will have to step up to compete with the very best sides in Europe.
