‘We know his situation very well’ – Deco confirms Barcelona are working on multiple signings | OneFootball

Barcelona are already aggressively ahead of a crucial summer transfer window, with sporting director Deco now confirming that work is underway to strengthen the squad for next season.

After spending several days in London alongside assistant sporting director Bojan Krkic, Deco returned to Barcelona and addressed growing speculation surrounding the club’s transfer activity.

The former midfielder admitted that Barça are exploring options in the market as the club looks to improve several positions before next season begins.

“Ultimately, we’re going to need to bring in a few players, which is why we’re working on it.”

It must be noted that Barcelona have been linked with several profiles of late, with Chelsea’s Joao Pedro being mentioned as one of the priorities.

While speaking about him, however, Deco remained cautious, stating, “We can’t say anything at the moment. 

“There are many players whose representatives we’re in touch with to see what will happen.”

The Barcelona sporting director also confirmed that discussions have not yet reached the stage of formal negotiations between clubs despite being in London. 

“We haven’t spoken to the clubs yet; we’re working on it a bit”.

The sporting director also hinted that the issue surrounding Joao Pedro may not revolve around the player’s willingness to join Barcelona. 

“I know Joao Pedro’s situation very well, but that is not the issue”.

Furthermore, another major name linked with Barcelona this summer is Julian Alvarez. 

When asked about the possibility of the Argentine arriving at the Spotify Camp Nou, Deco offered only a brief response, saying, “We’ll see, we’ll see,” he noted.

What about Rashford?

Alongside new attacking targets, Barcelona also continue to evaluate the future of Marcus Rashford after the English forward impressed during his loan spell at the club.

Rashford remains eager to continue in Catalonia, while Barcelona still possess the option to complete a permanent transfer worth around €30 million. 

Despite the growing noise around the situation, Deco avoided giving any concrete indication regarding the club’s final decision.
