“We might be wrong”: Rangers may just have struck gold in appointment | OneFootball

Ibrox Noise might (might) have been wrong about something.

As regulars to the Noise will know, we have never been afraid of holding our hands up and admitting we might have got an evaluation wrong.

Scott Fry

Unlike most outlets, we have no airs or graces here and if we’re wrong, we’re wrong. And in the case of Scott Fry, we may actually have been wrong.

Two goals against Aberdeen were aided and abetted by dead balls (corners) and that’s Fry’s domain.

As Rangers’ all-new set-piece coach, not only is Emmanuel Fernandez nutting them in with gay abandon thanks to Fry, but Rangers in general are nabbing more off dead balls than we can recall lately.

We’re not saying Fry is definitively ‘the answer’ but for a League One Lincoln City alumni, he may be doing not half bad so far.

Aasgaard

The pressure at Ibrox is nothing like League One – look at how Thelo Aasgaard from the same division is drowning in Govan.

But Fry seems to be having a positive effect so far, with dead balls and set pieces looking a bit more dangerous at the moment.

We don’t ever recall Rangers having a dedicated set piece coach before, making Fry potentially the first.

Rewards

But his job thus far seems to be paying off, and Rangers are reaping the rewards.

We call everything from below the Premier League in England pretty much EFL slop. We labelled Fry as that too – and so far he may be proving not everything from that level is mediocrity.
