Blades manager Chris Wilder has made it clear what he expects from his side in their final home outing. Speaking ahead of the game in his pre-match press conference, Wilder emphasised the importance of rewarding the supporters after their unwavering backing throughout a challenging season.

“We’ve won two out of three, we want to win three out of four, we certainly want to win our last home game,” he said. “We don’t want to be walking round the ground at the end… on a disappointing afternoon. We owe that to the support we’ve had this season; it’s been tremendous, home and away.

Wilder also acknowledged the fans’ honesty during difficult periods but praised their continued commitment. “There’s been times where it’s been vocal, on the positive and the negative, and we have to accept that. They’ve stayed with us and we need that to happen.”

On the pitch, the focus will be on starting fast, something United have done well at home this season, and maintaining the right attitude throughout. “It’s all about our approach to the game, how we start on the front foot,” Wilder added.

Defender Tyler Bindon has been ruled out after rolling his ankle against Blackburn. Wilder praised the youngster’s determination to continue playing despite the knock, highlighting his character, but confirmed a scan would keep him sidelined for this weekend.

Reflecting more broadly, Wilder did not shy away from the biggest issue of the season: inconsistency. “Consistency has been our Achilles heel,” he admitted. “Consistency in performance, attitude and results; that’s what we’re all striving for.”
