The Blues dropped more costly points as they conceded a stoppage time equaliser, meaning they’ve dropped four points in their last two games.

It looked like Chelsea were going to record a convincing win after Pedro opened the scoring in the fourth minute, but the Blues simply didn’t push on.

Joao Pedro on Chelsea’s game management

Rosenior fielded a strong line-up with Pedro leading the line, but once again an all too familiar story played out against the Clarets.

Having taken the lead Chelsea seemed to drop off, and there was a complete lack of intensity both on and off the ball.

Burnley started to grow into the game, and were given a boost when Wesley Fofana got sent off in the second half.

Rosenior went defensive with his substitutions to try and see the game out, but the Blues allowed Zian Flemming a free header from a corner to equalise.

It’s the second consecutive league game where the Blue’s haven’t been able to keep a lead, and Pedro admitted the team have got to manage games better.

“I think the red card made things difficult but we still had enough about us to get the win,” he told Chelsea’s website.

“Before the red card, we should have put the game to bed.

“When you go to a man less, of course things get more difficult.

“I didn’t really see the incident too clearly, but we need to learn how to manage the game in those situations because, regardless of having a man less, we are Chelsea and these type of games at home we have to win.”

Chelsea’s poor home record continues

The Blues have now won just six of their 14 games at Stamford Bridge this season, and have thrown away 19 points from winning positions.

Chelsea have failed to beat any of the promoted sides at home, and if the Blues are to qualify for the Champions League that form has to improve.

Next up are two away games against Arsenal and Aston Villa, and if the Blues are to finish in the top five it feels like they need at least four points.
