Brighton & Hove Albion head coach Dario Vidošic says that his side have full respect for latest opponents West Ham United and that they are mindful of the danger that they pose on the attack.

The Seagulls play host to The Hammers at Broadfield Stadium on Sunday afternoon in their latest Barclays Women’s Super League match.

West Ham United go into the match having lost both of their opening two games but Vidošić says that you can’t read anything into results or league rankings so early in the season.

“Against Tottenham, I thought they were unlucky; they had a lot of good chances but didn’t score,” Vidošić said when speaking in the pre-match press conference. “They were very good chances that on another day would go into the back of the net.

“You don’t want to look too much at the table, it’s only two rounds in, so it can be very misleading. We respect them highly. We played them in a pre-season friendly, so we will take a little bit from that but again, pre-season to in-season is a very different proposition.

“We know we’ve got a tough challenge, we are looking forward to it and again, we want to build a positive note at home.”

Going on to discuss West Ham United in more detail, Vidošić highlighted the dangers that the East Londoners can pose, particularly in counter-attacking situations.

He said “They’re very dangerous. The ball can be in the back of your net very quickly and they possess four very good attackers that are very dangerous. They’re mobile, they can receive to feet, they can turn you and they’re good in the one v one. The midfield’s very good and they’re defensively solid as well.

“We have to be smart, control the transitions and be aware in all moments because when they come in, they like to attack the space in-behind and defensively, they’re really good.

“We’ve learned a bit from last season and from our pre-season game, so we will prepare as best we can. We will be ready to go come Sunday.”

Three out of four of Brighton & Hove Albion’s opening league matches are at home. Vidošić is not focusing too much on home advantage, he wants consistency across the board.

He said “We don’t look into it too much; we want to be good everywhere. At [Manchester] City last Friday, we wanted to win, so again, the mindset and how we will prepare, nothing will change.

“Of course, we are at home with our fans and we want to send them off happy but even for the travelling ones, they come and support us around the country, so we want to give them the exact same thing.”
