Enzo Maresca is happy with Wesley Fofana, but has admitted it’s too soon for the defender to play two games a week.
Fofana has been plagued by injury issues during his time at Stamford Bridge, but he’s showing signs that those problems could be behind him.
The 24-year-old has made nine appearances in all competitions, with six of those coming the Premier League, five of which were starts.
Chelsea conceded one goal in the Premier League in November, and Fofana had a key role to play in that defensive improvement.
The Frenchman has started to form a good partnership with Trevoh Chalobah, and whilst Levi Colwill remains sidelined it appears Maresca has found his preferred partnership.

Fofana was left out of the squad against Leeds for load management reasons, and Chelsea were all over the place defensively as they slumped to a 3-1 defeat.
The former Leicester man should return to the starting line-up for Saturday’s game against Bournemouth, but Maresca has admitted he’s still not ready to play twice a week.
“Wes is doing well with one game a week,” he told Chelsea’s official website.
“Hopefully, in the future, he can do two games a week but I think it’s too early [for that now].
“What we don’t want with Wes is [to push him and he then be] four, five, six months out.
“We want to avoid that.”
With Fofana set to come back into the team it will be interesting to see when Josh Acheampong will get his next minutes.
