The Eagles can book their place in next season’s UEFA Champions League when they travel to SC Freiburg on the final day of the Bundesliga campaign. At Thursday’s pre-match press conference, head coach Dino Toppmöller answered the media’s questions on… … Saturday’s showdown: “Before the game kicks off, you have to say that both we and Freiburg are having impressive seasons. The fact that we’re both fighting for a Champions League spot on Matchday 34 is extraordinary and we’ll do everything we can to come out on top. We need to be hungry to win but mustn’t be afraid of losing. We want to get what we deserve.”

… SC Freiburg: “They’re a very well-organised team who are compact in defence and very dangerous going forward. We’ve worked hard in training this week to prepare for our opponents.”

… pressure: “We all know we’ll have to push ourselves to the limit on Saturday – maximum intensity, good personal performances, a strong collective and a little bit of luck. Above all, I want to see us give everything we have. Axel Hellmann hit the nail on the head: In moments like this, the club has to step up – the surroundings, the fans and the team. We can feel everyone’s behind us and appreciates what we’ve achieved thus far.”

… Tuta: “We’ll have to wait and see. It’s not 100 percent certain that he’ll play. He has delivered outstanding performances in recent years and this season too, but we have players up our sleeve who are capable of stepping in.”

… Farès Chaibi: “He’s definitely made a step in the right direction. He always brings great energy and aggression onto the pitch. If he performs the way he’s capable of, he’s an outstanding player.”
